The Brighton Community Group(Livingston County Abolitionist Project) meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Each month LCAP will feature a speaker, organization, service project or movie that works to end modern day slavery in Michigan and beyond!
At our LCAP meeting in June, we will view a short film (10 minutes) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services entitled, “Look Beneath the Surface”. This short film will be an addition to our library – available to sign out for home/ group viewing and discussion.
Gary A. Haugen, founder and CEO of the international Justice Mission relates poverty with violence (including sexual and labor trafficking). We will be coordinating a collection of hand-made/ gently used blankets from St. Mary Magdalen parish to distribute to the women in need at 2 homeless centers (Grace Centers of Hope and Guardian Angel Center).
In addition, we will discuss the next Farmers Market (Saturday, June 6th), collection of items for AWOL distribution, making lunches for AWOL and updates on future projects that will be of benefit to those at risk.
