S.O.A.P. Up Detroit Auto Show
S.O.A.P. stands for ‘Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution’ and is a hands-on outreach to fight sex trafficking at large events.
Volunteers (18+ for hotels, 21+ for bars and strip clubs. Training only 14+) will gather for a 1 hour training on sex trafficking in the U.S. Volunteers learn the S.O.A.P. method of approach for local hotels, bars, and strip clubs. This method includes resources on how to identify and report sex trafficking when they see it in their establishments. ***TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN OUTREACH*** Once trained, we will send teams of 4-6 to businesses with the materials. You may register as a driver (must be able to provide drivers licensee & proof of insurance at registration/check-in) OR as a rider and join a team while you are there. **Registering as a driver DOES NOT guarantee you will be a driver, teams will be assigned depending on the needs of the outreach & how many total volunteers arrive** We will only have a set amount of hotels to deliver to, so only those that pre-register are guaranteed to be able to participate in the outreach. A suggested donation of $10/per person for the training will cover materials and lunch. Registration and check-in will begin at 9:30.
S.O.A.P. is founded by Theresa Flores, and a trademarked program available exclusively through BE FREEDayton. BE FREE is the nonprofit organization that runs S.O.A.P.
