WHAT IS A COMMUNITY GROUP?
MAP Community Groups are open to anyone interested in learning more or becoming involved with anti-slavery initiatives in Michigan communities.
Community Groups meet regularly in Brighton,Canton, Fenton, Lansing, Midland, Milford, Novi, Redford, Shelby Township, The University of Michigan, and Warren . New groups are in process of forming. Attending a meeting does not mean you have to commit to volunteering. You can come to observe/learn or get involved – your choice.
WHY A COMMUNITY GROUP?
We need you and your fellow community members to help us respond to the atrocity of modern slavery that exists throughout Michigan.
“Human trafficking is a crime and a human rights abuse involving commercial sexual exploitation of a child or the use of force, coercion or fraud to compel someone into labor servitude or commercial sexual exploitation. Thousands of men, women, and children are trafficked in the United States every year. Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery. Whether you are a victim, a concerned neighbor, a police officer, a teacher, or a business owner, you can help stop human trafficking in your community”.
